Meet Jules and Dee, Ireland's first and only female magicians on the wedding circuit – and they are making a splash! Adding extra dazzle to an already magical day, their passion is palpable and they've received glowing reviews from brides and grooms across the country. Here's what sets them apart...

What service do you provide at weddings?

We entertain brides and grooms and their guests in the most memorable way. Using our female charm and intuition, we perform captivating card tricks, jaw-dropping illusions and mind-blowing mentalism. We get the ‘two sides’ of a wedding and we help break the ice and leave your guests dazzled, disarmed, and laughing out loud. We become part of the event rather than a stage performance act and we like to remind adults why magic is not just for kids!

We fit in with your plans for your big day, whether that is performing for your guests during the reception, which is a great way to get the party started, in between courses at dinner, or even post-meal during that evening lull.

What inspired you to start this business?

We have been performing magic for many years and most recently as kids’ entertainers in our sister business Genie Mackers. We began to notice that many parents were intrigued by the tricks we performed at their kids’ parties. We realised that there was a real appetite for our relaxed style of magic for an adult audience and we set up JD Magicians in 2017. As kids’ entertainers by day, it also gave us an outlet to develop our magic further. And evening events allow me (Jules) to juggle home and work life. I can be there to bring my daughter to and from school during the day and work while she is asleep in the evening.

What makes your service unique from other wedding suppliers in the same space?

Well, we are the first and only professional female magicians in the Republic of Ireland! So that is certainly unique and it is not something wedding guests here are used to. As female magicians and trained performers, we bring a fun and relaxed style of magic to weddings. We connect with and have the craic with your guests, leaving them talking about your wedding long after it’s over. The fact that we can also perform as a duo really adds something special to the bride and groom’s day.

What’s your favourite part about your job?

For me (Dee), it’s seeing people’s reactions to our magic. The shock and joy on their faces, particularly from guests at weddings, makes this job so rewarding. We have entertained brides and grooms and their guests at so many weddings this year and I love how every wedding is different.

For me (Jules), it’s the mix of performance and magic. They say magic is 70% performance and as a trained actress, I really enjoy this aspect along with, as Dee says, the amazing reaction we get. It also helps that I get to work alongside not just a business partner but a great friend.

How far in advance should a bride-to-be contact you before her wedding?

Most couples will plan early and book well in advance (often a year in advance), which we do recommend as we book up quickly. We can sometimes accommodate bookings closer to the time too – it’s hard to call but we’d certainly advise booking as soon as you know you would like entertainment to avoid disappointment.

What does the booking process look like?

Booking is easy, you can make an enquiry via our website and once a short booking form is complete, the booking is secured with a deposit – that’s it!

What areas of Ireland do you cover?

Predominantly Leinster but we will travel to most locations in Ireland with enough notice.

What’s one of your favourite weddings you’ve worked at and why?

We pondered this question long and hard and it’s impossible to pick one! Each wedding is unique. It’s why we love what we do. We bring an extra sparkle of magic to what is already a magical day.

Any advice for brides-to-be when it comes to finding the right wedding suppliers?

Our advice would be to meet suppliers where possible in person and see if they are a fit for you and your fiancé. Check out Google reviews and testimonials from other brides and do your research on their websites and social media.

Dedicated wedding events are also a great opportunity to meet numerous wedding suppliers face-to-face. We will be at The Wedding Show in the RDS (stand J8) on August 31 and September 1 if you would like to see us perform and chat with us about your dream day.
