Wide-leg trousers are the pants of the season – here are eight pairs we love right now

I was never a fan of tailored suit trousers.

Even though I tried, it never worked. The pants were always too tight around my curved thighs and bum, and too roomy on my waist. Some women looked majestic in them as if they were taking on Wall Street and the world just by wearing a pair.

However, when I wore them, I just looked stressed.

As the years progressed, I gave up entirely on my dreams of a ‘suit-up’ moment, but that was until now.

With a keen eye for an Instagram trend, I had seen more and more women choosing suit trousers with a more relaxed shape. Although I didn’t want to get my hopes up, I knew that the cinched waist and loose leg would flatter my shape.

Thankfully, my instinct was right and I will never have to squeeze into a tailored leg again.

Comfort is key with these pants, and in the times we live in, this ease of wear is just what we need. Their versatility is endless, pair with high heels for a date night, or on-trend ‘dad’ sneakers for a casual day trip.

From ASOS to Net-A-Porter, there is a pair to suit every budget and shape, but our top pick has to be Weekday’s Nigella trousers. The colour is stunning, and the flap pocket is a lovely design addition placing these pants ahead of the rest.
