What the Irish street style set get up to at Copenhagen Fashion Week

What the Irish street style set get up to at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Multi-hyphenate fashion creative and oft-photographed fashion month street styler Zeda shares her Copenhagen Fashion Week diary.

I’m a fashion enthusiast always in search of a community full of like-minded individuals and beautiful clothes. The answer to this search comes in the form of the amazing Copenhagen Fashion Week and once you enter this bustling world, it’s like stepping into a kaleidoscope of creativity, authenticity and fun. For this season (my third one), I excitedly immersed myself in the whirlwind of runway shows, backstage buzz, the best chats and sartorial splendour. Here’s a glimpse into my exciting week at CPHFW AW24, where I fell even deeper in love with fashun!

SUNDAY

I always love starting my week by travelling to Copenhagen the day before all the hustle and bustle starts. So with a chaotic morning getting to Dublin airport followed by a smooth flight to Copenhagen, we landed and I went straight to my hotel, where I checked in and got ready to explore the few pre-fashion week events happening. Myself and two friends ended up at a Soho House showcase for emerging designer, Arisholm. The designer talked us through the collection and we got to feel some pieces on the rail. Then after that, we went to a bar to talk about the upcoming week. We had an early night so we could rest up before the madness began.

MONDAY

When I was making my schedule for the week, past experience taught me to fill my first day with very little activity so I could ease myself in. First, I started the day by getting dressed in my outfit – all sourced at Loot, a vintage concept store in Dublin. Once I was ready, I headed out the door to a really cool event with Me&MyBox x Sally’s Sneakers.

At this event, we got to customise a new pair of Adidas trainers with fabric and jewellery which was genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever gotten to do. Then, it was time to head to the official opening reception at the Thorvaldsens Museum where we heard amazing welcoming speeches from the CEO of CPHFW, Cecilie Thorsmark and Pascal Brun, VP of Sustainability and D&I at Zalando. Afterwards, a group of us Irish folk met up and walked to the first show which was Nicklas Skovgaard so we could capture some street style content for socials. I got papped myself and was featured in so many articles! Then I ran to my fitting with STAMM so they could pick what I was going to wear to their show the next day. We settled on a very oversized green look that I loved. After this, I grabbed some food with some more Irish friends and then headed back to my hotel to get ready for the Vogue Scandinavia x Soho House party! At the party, I met up with some more Irish friends and we partied the night away… but not too late because I knew the next day was going to be crazy!

TUESDAY

My day started with a lot of outfit prepping as I knew there was going to be a lot of outfit changes. Then I headed to a Stylemine meeting with my friend Alice where we shot some content for them and answered some style questions. My first show of the week was Rolf Ekroth where we saw unisex looks come down the runway – standouts were the knit hats and an outfit which looked like it had a ping pong ball stuck on, it was so cool.

Then it was a quick run back to my hotel to change into my outfit for the STAMM show. It’s my first time to ever be dressed by a brand so it was really exciting for me. Myself and the other STAMM crew headed down to the show where we first saw a board with the inspiration for the show. The set design was amazing and we were treated to some sensational looks on the runway.

Another run to the hotel to change my outfit for the VAIN Show. All the Irish folk sat together which was really lovely. The show was really interesting and was opened by one of my favourite creators, Lotta. Some standouts were the pops of yellow throughout the collection. After that, myself and two friends took a leisurely stroll to the next event which was a Pandora pop-up party where we got to make some custom-loaded necklaces. Although there were after-parties, I had such a packed day, that I  headed straight to my hotel to have some much-needed rest.

WEDNESDAY

This was a fun day as I got to meet some really cool people and see some amazing designs. My day started with the Herskind show where some edgy looks were showcased in a historic location, Helligåndshuset and I needed every single piece immediately. Then it was the OpéraSport show, the journey there was quite tricky as it was so far out but thankfully, other people faced the same problem so we didn’t miss anything. The collection was the epitome of fresh and cool so I was already imagining what pieces I could pull for future shoots. After that, it was back to the hotel to shoot some content with Yamilia for my collaboration with Brown Thomas. I was testing the Rayban x Meta glasses so she shot some BTS with me using them and then off we went to check out Stine Goya.

I got the chance to head backstage at Stine Goya to record them getting ready for the show and have some chats with the team and the models. Once I was done, I headed out to shoot some more street style and then finally went inside with the rest of the guests. My seat for the show was beside one of my favourite creators, Chloe King and we got to enjoy the calm and pastel world of Stine. After this, we hopped on the press bus to Henrik Vibskov which was the most surreal show I saw this season. Titled Chewing Gum, there was dancing, fun, fashion and excitement. The two closing sheer looks were favourites of mine. The next location for Baum und Pferdgarten was quite far away so everyone rushed to get there but luckily the show didn’t start until everyone was settled. The set design for the show was really cool, it was dark and candle chandeliers were lowered down and there was great music. My favourites were the pink looks. The models looked like they were having so much fun. My last event of the day was the Zalando Visionary Award winner, Paolina Russo’s show which was so dynamic and interesting. The models came in with balloons attached to them and then as they started moving down the runway, the set design also moved.  It was such a sporty-inspired show with standouts being the plus-size options showcased. After such an eventful day, it was time to call it a wrap and go rest for the next day.

THURSDAY

This was the official full last day of CPHFW so it was always going to be packed. First, I went to the TG Botanical show where it was knit pieces galore, with my favourite being the khaki three-piece.

After that, I did a quick switcharoo into a casual outfit for the Kseniaschnaider show. I also made sure to wear some denim because that’s what they are most known for. Then I flew down to the Irish Embassy where they were hosting an event with Copenhagen Fashion Week. It was a showcase of Irish design, there was also a conversation on folklore, mythology, and fashion as a vehicle for social change. Four up-and-coming Irish designers – Ríon Hannora, Megan McGuigan (Seeking Judy), Megan Nolan and Caoimhe Dowling – displayed their latest collections as well.

To wrap up CPHFW, I went backstage at the Rotate show before they started to take some content of the models on behalf of Brown Thomas. It was so exciting to get a sneak peek of the collection and to see how everything works up close and personal. The show was in a beautifully designed location with red carpet everywhere and beautiful designs going down the runway. My personal favourites were the red veil look and the white feather and sheer gown. After the show finished, the runway was instantly turned into a nightclub and all the guests danced the night away.

FRIDAY

Friday was our wind-down day. I wanted to take in the city and explore. We first started with the NewTalent showroom where we had a chance to have a chat with some of the designers who showcased their work during the week and also check out some of their pieces up close. Then it was off to the Ganni showcase in partnership with CPHFW where they chose to spotlight several emerging Nordic designers through a special activation for the AW24 edition. It was really cool to see this initiative and see Ganni share their spotlight! To wrap up fashion week, we went to see the Pandora x Vogue talk in Polestar where the panel explored how to create a more collaborative creative industry by leveraging power for change. It was so insightful and it honestly wrapped up my week perfectly. After this, I went back to my hotel to unwind, chill and start packing!
