The Cast Of The All Female Ocean’s 11 Reboot Is Amazing

The Cast Of The All Female Ocean’s 11 Reboot Is Amazing

Regardless of its often unfair bad press, we love the premise of an all-female remake. What’s not to love? These reboots showcase the wide range of talented actresses in the industry, give modern audiences something fresh and reworking plots from a female point of view can create diversity and help tackle female stereotypes. Because let’s face it; Hollywood needs all the help it can get in this regard.

So this morning’s news has made us happy campers indeed. Six superstars are set to play a crack team of con artists in the upcoming comedy heist movie Ocean’s Eight, a spin-off of the blockbuster Ocean’s trilogy, including?Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, and Sandra Bullock. They’ll also be joined by Nora Lum – a rising New York-born actress/rapper who made her big screen debut in Bad Neighbours 2, according to Deadline.

Who will fill the eighth spot is as yet unconfirmed, but the rumour mill suggests it could be Elizabeth Banks (please let this be true).

The film is set to be a continuation of the George Clooney-led franchise, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. Blanchett, who will be the equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Rusty, is supposedly her right-hand woman (what a pairing they will make). ?The premise is that they will form a team to steal a necklace from the Met Ball (just think of the gowns on display) to frame a villainous gallery owner, who we can only hope is Anna Wintour. Imagine the on-screen drama.

However, even at this early stage, director Garry Ross is keen to stress that they aren’t out to reinvent the wheel with the adaptation as he reportedly said that his film would remain loyal to Steven Soderbergh Ocean’s trilogy, describing it as ‘very much an extension and a continuation? of Soderbergh’s films. But there’s a strong chance he could be keeping schtum to save his cast from the torrent of abuse the Ghostbusters ladies received, and who can blame him?

Filming is set to begin next month, with the movie released in 2017. We. Are. So. Excited.
